2026 Take a Sailor to Dinner Program

2026 Take a Sailor to Dinner Program

The Mobile Council is proud to announce the return of our Take a Sailor to Dinner program for 2026 — one of our most meaningful traditions and a chance for our community to show appreciation to the men and women who serve at sea.

From February 13–18, 2026, Mobile will welcome the USS FARRAGUT (DDG 99), an Arleigh Burke–class destroyer whose crew will be our honored guests throughout the week. This is your opportunity to share a meal, offer warm hospitality, and give these sailors a memorable evening ashore.

How the Program Works

  • Volunteers host at least two sailors for dinner at a local restaurant or in their home.
  • Transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the volunteer — picking up and returning the sailors to the ship.
  • Sign‑ups are open now, click the link below
  • Questions or need guidance? Contact program coordinator Terry Gilbreath at [email protected].

💙 Why Participate

This program is more than a meal — it’s a chance to:

  • Show appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our sailors
  • Share the spirit of Mobile with visitors who rarely get time away from the ship
  • Build lasting connections between our community and the U.S. Navy

Every year, sailors tell us this is one of the highlights of their port visit. Your hospitality makes that possible.

If you’re ready to make a difference and enjoy an unforgettable evening, sign up today.
